Hurricane weather = staying in and baking! π
Hi, Reader π
I'm in Massachusetts and Hurricane Lee is being just enough of a nuisance that clam shacks have closed, ferries have been canceled, and people have canceled their plans in favor of βfrench toastβ.
I've learned that my chronic illnesses are not a big fan of wild weather or the changing of seasons, so I'm feeling more achy and cranky than usual. I also just ordered a rollator to help me get around on my high-flare days and I'm secretly a little jazzed about blinging it out (you can learn more about βmy spoonie story hereβ).
My birthday is on Monday and I'm trying not to dread the idea of entering the last year of my 30s π« The resurgence of Y2K fashion (omg why), NSYNC reunion, and the fact that while watching a video about the MTV VMAs I realized I have no idea who any of these people are is making me feel old.
So to distract me from my mortality and the fact that I have to wait another two weeks for the new season of Bob's Burgers, I wanted to pop into your inbox and throw some weekend baking ideas your way:
- Sweet tooth? Get some cookies in your face in a hurry with my no chill chocolate chip cookie recipeβ
- Make some snacks for NFL Sunday! You can't go wrong with mozzarella sticks, soft pretzels and beer cheese dipβ
- Going apple picking? Use them for strudel, apple cinnamon toaster strudelsβapple strudel monkey bread, or turnovers.
- Grab some apple cider while you're at the orchard so you can make baked cider donuts, apple cider mimosas, or apple cider hot toddies.
Reply and let me know what you're up to this weekend!
- Are the kids back in school and you're loving it/struggling with it?
- Do you have a big baking project you're excited about?
- Did your dog do something adorable?!
Whatever it is, I want to hear all about it!
See ya next time!
- Leslie
